Im wohlhabenden Poppenbüttel lebt es sich behaglich und komfortabel, etliche Villen säumen den Alsterlauf. Einen Besuch wert ist das Alstertal-Einkaufszentrum (Heegbarg 31) – Hamburgs größtes Einkaufszentrum. Vor dem AEZ ist übrigens die Bronzeskulptur „Antje“ zu finden. Die Walross-Dame (1976–2003) diente dem NDR jahrelang als Maskottchen. Eine Tour durch Poppenbüttel wird nicht langwei- lig. Der Alsterwanderweg oder der Hennebergpark lädt zum Spaziergang ein, Kanuverleihe locken zu einer Paddeltour auf das Wasser, sogar eine exoti- sche Burg – die Burg Henneberg (Marienhof 8) im Maßstab 1:4 – lässt sich am Alsterlauf bewundern. Nach so viel Action und Abenteuer kann man seinen Appetit dann mit einem leckeren Steak im Block House Alstertal (Heegbarg 32) stillen oder sich die Köstlichkeiten des Restaurants Stocks (An der Alsterschleife 3) schmecken lassen. This district in the north of the city is particularly renowned for its green spaces. Life is laid-back and comfortable in the prosperous district of Poppenbüttel, with many villas lining the banks of the Alster. The Alstertal Shopping Centre (Heegbarg 31) is well worth a visit – it is Hamburg’s biggest shopping centre. Incidentally, outside the Alstertal is a bronze sculpture of ‘Antje’ the walrus (1976–2003), who served as a mascot for NDR for many years. A tour around Poppenbüttel is never dull. The Alsterwanderweg and the Hennebergpark are ideal for taking a stroll. Canoes can be hired for those who fancy a little paddle on the water. There is even an exotic castle to be admired along the banks of the Alster – a one-to-four scale replica of Henneberg Castle (Marienhof 8).
